Women's Tennis Season Ends with 4-0 Loss to No. 1 Keiser
MOBILE, Ala. — The Coastal Georgia women's tennis team's season came to a close Wednesday at the Mobile Tennis Center, falling 4-0 to Keiser in NAIA Championship play. The Seahawks entered the match at 21-1, one of the top programs in the country.
Doubles Goes to Keiser
Keiser was dominant from the start, sweeping the doubles courts to claim the point. Patricia and Violet Apisah took down Karlie Scott Kersey and Gabriella Rodrigues 6-2 at No. 1, while Ella Sahnis and Aline Aveiro handled Gabriela Miteva and Luna Feillon 6-2 at No. 2. Coastal Georgia's Manon Baudet and Felicia Elixmann kept things competitive at No. 3, falling 5-2 before the point was decided.
Keiser Success in Singles
The Seahawks continued their dominance in singles, winning the first four courts to clinch the match before remaining courts were completed. Violet Apisah shut out Kersey 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and Alexandra Melnikova did the same to Miteva at No. 2. Ella Sahnis defeated Gabriella Rodrigues 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. The remaining singles matches were also decided in straight sets with Keiser winning each.
Despite the result, the Mariners finish a strong season at 12-8, advancing a round in the NAIA Championship tournament after Tuesday's win over Our Lady of the Lake.
