No. 24 Mariners Defeat Florida Memorial in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The No. 24 Coastal Georgia softball team (25-5, 10-1) defeated Florida Memorial (9-14, 2-6) by scores of 16-0 (5 innings) and 6-1 to secure the series win in a doubleheader on Friday.

Bryce Peacock and Anna Feil earned the wins in the circle as Peacock improves to 8-1 and Feil to 4-0.

GAME 1:

The Mariners got off to a strong start as they jumped all over the Lions, scoring all 16 runs in the first three innings.
McCall Maret and Julianna Bellflower combined for six RBI's on 4-5 hitting.
Sarah Thinger, Bryce Peacock, Melani Jones and Aniston Johnson all knocked in two RBI's each with Kayla Rowell bringing in one run.
Elizabeth McGovern and Reagan Thomas closed out the game, each pitching one inning and allowing no hits.

GAME 2:

Game two was closer, but the Mariners were in control the whole way.
The Lions got their lone run in the first inning, as the Mariners led 2-1 going into the second.
After giving up two hits in the first inning, Feil settled into the game and allowed just two hits the rest of the way before McGovern came in to close the game in the seventh inning.
MacKenzie Kagee led the way offensively recording two hits and two RBIs. Malarie Peacock and Thinger also had two hits and had one RBI each.

UP NEXT: The Mariners will play game three of the series tomorrow, April 1 at 12 p.m.
