No. 21 Mariners Take Doubleheader & Series Against Gyrenes

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AVE MARIA, Fla.- The No. 21 Coastal Georgia softball team (33-10, 17-3) defeated Ave Maria (18-23, 5-15) in their doubleheader on Friday afternoon by scores of 2-1 and 10-0 to secure the series win.

Hayley Dickerson picked up her 17^th win of the season after allowing just one run which came in the bottom of the seventh inning during game one.

Sarah Thinger and Bryce Peacock drove in both runs scored including a run in the top of seventh which was scored by Zoe Johnston-Hadaway who hit a double after coming in to pinch hit.

Game one was a pitcher's duel throughout, both starters went all seven innings and no runs were scored between the second and sixth innings.

Julianna Bellflower continued her hot stretch of play, recording a hit in her seventh straight game and the fourth time she's had a multi-hit game as she roped two base hits in game one.

B. Peacock picked up her 10^th win of the season in game two after pitching six shutout innings while striking out six Gyrene batters. Elizabeth McGovern
closed out the game in the bottom of the seventh allowing just one hit.

Nine different Mariners recorded a hit in the second game of the day. The Mariners also got RBIs from eight of those players, led by B. Peacock and Thinger who both finished with two.

Thinger had a three-hit day while Melani Jones and Aniston Johnson also recorded multiple hits with two each.

UP NEXT: The Mariners will close out the series against Ave Maria tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they go for the sweep.
