VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (2-3) fell to NCAA DII opponent Valdosta State (3-1) in four sets on Tuesday night.

The Mariners came out strong taking a hard-fought first set 27-25. Freshman Jazzlyn Lamerson got her first start of the season in her first game of the season and recorded seven kills and three digs. Lamerson jumped right into the action and did not let the speed of the college-level phase her as she played a strong match all-around.

The Blazers locked in after set one, however, taking the the next three by scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-16.

Raevyn Russell tied Lamerson for the team-high in kills with seven. Russell also led the team with 13 digs while Rebecca Brown and Sara Hansen combined for 29 assists.

Sydney Martin and Cassidy Casey recorded six kills a piece while Elena Gkiourda finished with four kills as they rounded out the major attackers.

Delaney Wilson added two kills to add to the 34-kill total.

"We are obviously disappointed with the result of this game. Especially after such competitive matches last spring and earlier this fall in scrimmages. As a team we are going to keep working to be prepared for our conference schedule."
