Mariners Unable to Tame Fire

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Coastal Georgia women's tennis team fell by a 4-0 final at the hands of the Southeastern Fire on Friday afternoon. 

The (3) Fire (12-3, 5-1 TSC) took the doubles point at the second and third lines for the first point of the day. Ingrid Monsterrat and Flaminia Guidantoni took the second line 6-1 while Maria Martinez and Irene Lopez took the third line 6-2. Ana Gonzalez and Laetitia Grand were tied 4-4 at the first line when the point was called. 

Guidantoni took the third line from Lisa McKenzie in straight sets 6-0, 6-3. At No. 5 singles, it was Monsterrat who took care of Chloe Do Lago in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 for the second singles point, and the match was clinched by Lopez who defeated Azul Malatini 6-2, 7-5. Danielle Silvan was ahead by a set at the second line. After winning the first set 7-5, she dropped the second set 6-3, and the match went unfinished. Laetitia Grand also won a set at the fourth line, winning the first set 6-3 but trailing the second set 5-2 when the match was called. 

The Mariners will now travel to Lake Wales to take on Warner tomorrow afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
