College of Coastal Georgia sophomore Karlie Scott Kersey has been named a Third-Team All-American by the NAIA, the association announced May 21 following the 45th Annual NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Ala. Scott Kersey, a Saint Simons Island native, is one of 18 student-athletes nationwide to earn Third-Team recognition for the 2025-26 season.
The honor comes at the end of a landmark year for the Mariners' women's tennis program. Scott Kersey was a key contributor throughout the season, competing in the top singles and doubles positions alongside Gabriella Rodrigues at No. 1 doubles — a pairing that served as the cornerstone of Coastal Georgia's team identity. When that doubles combination was clicking, the Mariners were difficult to beat.
Coastal Georgia carried significant momentum into the national championship, having closed the regular season on a dominant stretch that included back-to-back 7-0 shutout victories. The program earned its national bid out of The Sun Conference, and the national stage only reinforced what had been building throughout the year.
The All-America honor makes Scott Kersey one of the most decorated players in the brief history of Coastal Georgia women's tennis. As a sophomore, she still has two seasons of eligibility remaining — a promising sign for a program that has now established itself as a national contender in its very first postseason run.
