PALM HARBOR, Fla. - The College of Coastal Georgia men's golf team shot a third round 298 at the Invite at Innisbrook on Tuesday, finishing the tournament in seventh place.
After back-to-back 77's a day ago, freshman Jake Ackerman paced the Mariners in scoring in round three, firing a one over 72 to finish his second collegiate tournament in 36th place on the leaderboard. After making the turn two over, Ackerman birdied holes 14 and 16 to get back to even par, but a bogey on 17 put him back at one over where he finished his round.
The best finisher for the Mainers was Antonio Juarbe who shot a third round 74 and finished inside the top 15 in 14th position. Bo Shuler finished strong with another 75 on his card, finishing in 26th place. Finley Burke, who played well on Monday, struggled in round three finishing with a 79 and in 36th place, and freshman Griffin Blount improved by three strokes from rounds two to three, shooting a 77 to end his tournament.
Just as they did in Brunswick two weeks ago, Dalton State finished in first shooting even par on day three and 18 over for the tournament, seven strokes ahead of Keiser. Campbellsville, William Carey, and Southeastern rounded out the top five.
The Mariners will take some time off before finishing their fall season in Vonore, Tenn. at the Bojangles Fall Classic, hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan.
