BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. - After completing round two with a team score of 316, the College of Coastal Georgia men's golf team improved once again in round three firing a 305 to finish 18th in The Battle out in Arizona.
Bo Shuler was the man for the Mariners in round two as he finished off his impressive line with a two over 74. A double bogey on the par four fourth hole hurt the score as he would've finished the round even par without that score. Antonio Juarbe improved by two strokes from rounds one to two with a 79, Brad Hammock finished nine over, and both Finley Burke and Jake Ackerman finished 10 over par in round two, with Ackerman improving his score by 10 strokes from round to round.Â
Shuler backed up his 74 in round two with another 74 in round three as he finished in 26th place, the lone Mariner to crack the top 30 individually, while Hammock also finished with a 74 in his final round for a 40th place finish. Juarbe finished with a 78 to finish in 67th place, Burke shot a 79 to finish 79th, and Ackerman wrapped up at 24 over par to finish his tournament.Â
Host school Wayland Baptist won the tournament by three strokes over second place Keiser. Oklahoma City, OUAZ, and Texas Wesleyan rounded out the top five.Â
The Mariners will take a week off before hitting the road for north Georgia as they head to Rocky Face to participate in the Roadrunner Classic, hosted by Dalton State.Â
