The Mariners (7-11, 3-4 SUN) did not play their best brand of tennis on Friday when the Fire (14-0, 6-0 SUN) came to town, dropping the match 5-0. Southeastern dominated the courts, not allowing a single set to the Marienrs en route to their 14th straight win of the season. The very next day, CCGA needed a win to ensure their entrance into the Sun Conference tournament in nine days, and that is exactly what they got over Warner, defeating the Royals by a final score of 4-2. CCGA started hot by taking the doubles points at lines one and two, getting much needed momentum going into singles play. Kirmayr, Kassubeck, and Solorzona brought home victories on their respective courts to secure the win and the Mariners participation in the postseason for the sixth straight season, excluding COVID.
CCGA secred the number four seed in the tournament and will take on the number five seeded Ave Maria Gyrenes in the quarterfinals. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. from the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex in Brunswick.
