Coastal Georgia men's tennis saw their five-match winning streak come to an end Thursday afternoon, falling 7-0 to undefeated Georgia Gwinnett. The Grizzlies (10-0) swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches to hand the 18th-ranked Mariners their first shutout loss of the season.
The match was competitive in doubles, with the Pons Medina brothers pushing Georgia Gwinnett before falling 6-7, 5-7 to Santiago Villarruel and Luis Francisco Sampedro at No. 1 doubles. Caspar Grylls and Geronimo Gonzalez Dolci lost 3-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Max Kirmayr and Enzo Barauna fell 3-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Georgia Gwinnett swept the singles competition in straight sets. Artur Pons Medina fell to Luis Francisco Sampedro 2-6, 4-6 at No. 1 singles, while Gonzalo Tano lost to Yerassyl Yerdilda 1-6, 1-6 at No. 2 singles.
