The College of Coastal Georgia softball team fell 1–0 to No. 6 Southeastern University in the final game of a three-game series, wrapping up a competitive weekend for the Mariners.
Coastal dropped the first two games of the series by scores of 8–2 and 2–1 before battling in a tight pitcher's duel in Sunday's finale.
Rylee Mills delivered another strong performance in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits and one earned run. Mills kept the Fire lineup in check throughout, but Southeastern managed to push across the game's only run.
Southeastern's Emma Vickers, paired with Edan Playa, held the Mariners scoreless. The duo combined to allow seven hits while striking out three in the shutout effort.
Coastal generated scoring opportunities throughout the contest but was unable to capitalize, leaving seven runners on base.
Offensively, Brooke Perdue and Mackenzie Southerland each recorded doubles to lead the Mariners, while five additional players contributed singles.
The Mariners will have nearly a week off before returning to action at home. Coastal is set to host Georgia Gwinnett for a doubleheader on Friday, April 17. Georgia Gwinnett is currently receiving votes in the national poll, while the Mariners remain ranked inside the Top 25.
