The College of Coastal Georgia men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to New College of Florida on Saturday, April 11.
Doubles
Coastal dropped the doubles point, falling in all three courts. At No. 1, Artur Pons Medina and Salvador Pons Medina dropped a close 5-3 decision to Pedro Lemos and Konstantin Kukaras. Carlos Quinones and Timothy Phung then clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Caspar Grylls and Geronimo Gonzalez Dolci at No. 2, while Patrick Janikian and Hugo Fidler closed out doubles with a 6-4 victory over Enzo Barauna and Max Kirmayr at No. 3.
Singles
The Mariners showed resilience in singles play, claiming two of the six courts. Geronimo Gonzalez Dolci delivered a dominant 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4, and Max Kirmayr posted a convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6 to account for both Coastal points.
The match's most dramatic moment came at No. 2, where Gonzalo Tano took the first set 7-6 before eventually falling to Carlos Quinones 6-7, 1-6 in a hard-fought three-set battle. Leonard Daguinot also pushed his opponent at No. 5, winning the opening set 6-4 before falling 4-6, ultimately dropping the match to Pedro Lemos. Artur Pons Medina battled at No. 1 but fell to Timothy Phung 3-6, 5-6, while Salvador Pons Medina dropped a 1-6, 4-6 decision to Hugo Fidler at No. 3.
