Mariners Fall to Keiser in Series Finale, 6-2, to Drop to 34-10

Coastal Georgia put up a valiant fight Saturday afternoon against one of the nation's premier programs, but ultimately dropped the series finale to Keiser 6-2 at Alumni Field to fall to 34-10 on the season. Despite the result, the Mariners showed plenty of fight and gave themselves a chance to win before the Seahawks held on for the victory.

Keiser got off to a hot start, scoring three runs in the first on an RBI single by Macy Schaaf and a two-RBI single by Olivia Shoemaker, then adding two more in the second on a two-run single by Faith Campos. Emilia Clemons came on in relief and was outstanding, limiting one of the country's best offenses to just one run over 4.2 innings while striking out three and giving Coastal Georgia every opportunity to get back in the game.

The Mariners answered the challenge in the fourth inning, putting together their best at-bats of the afternoon. Brooke Perdue, McKenzie Collins, and Mackenzie Southerland hit consecutive singles to load the bases, and Ella Romano delivered a sacrifice fly before Clemons came through with a clutch RBI single to pull Coastal Georgia within 5-2. It was exactly the kind of resilience that has defined this team throughout the season.

Keiser added one more in the fifth to set the final at 6-2, but the Mariners continued to compete through the final out against Keiser starter Mackenzie Masternak, who improved to 24-4 and has been one of the top pitchers in the country this season.

Clemons was outstanding on both sides of the ball, delivering a quality relief outing while also contributing a key RBI single at the plate. Perdue, Collins, Carolino, and Southerland each added hits as the Mariners finished the series having pushed one of the best teams in the nation throughout all three games.

Coastal Georgia heads into the final stretch of the regular season at 34-10 and will look to close things out strong heading into the postseason.
