MOBILE, Ala. — The Coastal Georgia women's tennis team picked up a big 4-2 victory over Our Lady of the Lake Tuesday afternoon at the Mobile Tennis Center, improving to 12-7 on the season.
Doubles Point Goes to the Mariners
Coastal Georgia secured the doubles point by winning two of three courts. Karlie Scott Kersey and Gabriella Rodrigues got things started with a dominant 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Gabriela Miteva and Luna Feillon then clinched the point at No. 2, winning a competitive match over Carolina Guerrero and Michaela Muller, 7-6, 7-4. Our Lady of the Lake took the No. 3 court 6-1.
Mariners Win Four of Six in Singles
Coastal Georgia carried its momentum into singles, taking four courts to secure the match victory.
Gabriela Miteva was sharp at No. 2 singles, rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 win. Felicia Elixmann picked up a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 5, dropping the second set before closing out 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Manon Baudet rallied at No. 6, winning a decisive third set to take her match 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Luna Feillon battled through a three-setter at No. 3 singles, ultimately falling 5-7, 6-1, 2-4 in a match that went Our Lady of the Lake's way. Karlie Scott Kersey dropped the No. 1 court 0-6, 4-6, while Gabriella Rodrigues fell at No. 4, 1-6, 1-6.
With the win, Coastal Georgia moves to 12-7 on the season and advances in the tournament.
