Brunswick, Ga. -- The College of Coastal Georgia welcomes B.J. Bennett as the Director of Athletic Communications.
 
A Brunswick native and Mariner alum, Bennett brings over 20 years of sports media experience to the position. His background includes radio, print and online work through local, regional and national outlets. Bennett was most recently the sports director for ESPN Radio Coastal, a multi-station sports network which had affiliates in Savannah/Hilton Head, Brunswick and the Golden Isles and Waycross/Blackshear. He, alongside Kevin Thomas and former University of Florida All-American and NFL tight end Ben Troupe, co-hosted "Three & Out", a daily three-hour syndication. 
 
Additionally, Bennett was the founder and publisher of SouthernPigskin.com, a credentialed online journal covering ACC, SEC, Sun Belt and Southern Conference football. He also was previously an afternoon show host for The Fan Sports Radio in Brunswick and Waycross, a staff writer for The Brunswick News and a contributor to USA Today Sports, Athlon Sports and Y'all Magazine, among other publications. Bennett authored "Uncommon and Unfinished: The Ben Troupe Story", a memoir on the experiences of the former football star.
 
Bennett has covered a wide-range of live events including numerous professional sports contests, major college football conference championships and bowl games, the NFL Draft, international soccer, intercollegiate athletics at multiple levels, various sports media days and high school championships. In 2025, Bennett, who was sports editor for The Mariners' Log as a student on campus and covered CCGA athletics throughout his media career, joined the Coastal Georgia broadcast team, serving as the play-by-play voice for men's and women's basketball and softball. Bennett brings two decades of broadcasting experience to the role.

I couldn't be more happy with this new, game-changing addition to our staff." 
 
The new position is one where Bennett will look to further promote and support the seven NAIA athletic teams at Coastal Georgia.  
    
"I'm honored to be here and to contribute to all of the positive momentum the Mariners have. The College of Coastal Georgia has long been a special place to me. I'm grateful to Dr. Evans and Zack Rogers for the opportunity and look forward to my next chapter here," Bennett added.
 
Bennett's wife, Amanda, is a former softball player for the Mariners. They have two children, Maddux and Cannon.
