Coastal men fall to AUM

Montgomery, Ala. – The College of Coastal Georgia men's basketball team suffered a 91-67 loss Saturday to Auburn-Montgomery in the season finale for both teams.

Coastal Georgia, which finishes the regular season having lost its last two games, will take a 10-20 record into next week's Southern States Athletic Conference tournament which also will be in Montgomery. The Mariners finish with a 6-12 record in conference games after Saturday's setback.

The Warhawks, who avenged their loss to the Mariners in Brunswick back in January, finish the regular season 16-12 overall and 10-8 in the conference.

In Saturday's game , the Mariners led by as much as three points early before AUM surged ahead for a 53-43 advantage at halftime. The Warhawks would lead by as much as 29 points late in the second half while celebrating Senior Day.

Coastal Georgia finished shooting just 33.8 percent (22-65) from the field while AUM was much more efficient offensively, shooting 51.4 percent (37-72) for the game.

Dominic Early, who led the conference with 21.3 points a game going into the contest, was checked to just six points for the Mariners in the loss.

Derrick Frye led the Mariners with a game-best 18 points. Jamaal Rhodes and Milton Geddes scored 12 each for Coastal Georgia.

Joshua Thompson notched 12 rebounds to lead the team on the glass.

All five starters for AUM reached double figures in the win. Reagan Eubanks paced the team with 16 points, Romoane Eager followed with 14, Desmond DeRamus dumped in 13, Bobby Thompson scored 12 and Tristen Harrell added 10.

DeRamus pulled down 10 boards and also dished out 13 assists to record a triple-double for the Warhawks.
