No. 21 Mariners Secure Series With Wins Over Keiser

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The No. 21 Coastal Georgia softball team (36-10, 20-3) swept Keiser University (23-20, 12-11) in a doubleheader on Friday by scores of 6-0 and 2-0.

Hayley Dickerson and Bryce Peacock pitched beautifully as neither pitcher allowed a run and combined for 17 strikeouts through both games. Dickerson picked up win No. 18 on the season and Peacock win No. 11.

Peacock also added value with her bat, blasting a three-run homer in the sixth inning to highlight a four-run inning in game one to add insurance heading into the final inning.

MacKenzie Kagee hit her seventh homer of the season just one pitch after Peacock to round out the scoring of the Mariner's 6-0 win in game one.

Game two was a pitchers duel all the way through with the Mariners able to scrap across a run in the fourth and fifth innings thanks to a McCall Maret RBI single and a B. Peacock RBI single.

Sarah Thinger had an impressive day going 4-7 at the plate with an RBI while Melani Jones and B. Peacock also recorded multi-hit games.

Coastal Georgia will lock-up the No. 1 seed in the Sun Conference Softball Tournament with a win tomorrow or a Southeastern loss. The Mariners have already clinched a bye but will be looking to boast the title of regular-season champions.

UP NEXT: The Mariners will host Keiser for the final home game of the season at 10 a.m. and will honor their six seniors before the game takes place.
