Mariners Fall 0-3 to Ave Maria

AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (3-6, 0-2) fell to Ave Maria by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Gyrenes (6-6, 2-0) hit an impressive .326 and recorded 13 serving aces against the Mariners. 

Sydney Martin led the Mariners with 10 kills, hit .292 and added four blocks while Rebecca Brown and Sara Hansen combined for 25 assists.

Cassidy Casey and Paula Perez Rosales combined for 11 kills as Raevyn Russell (4), Madison Heskett (3) and Chantiya Johnson (3) combined for 10. Freshman Luci Marinella added a kill, which is the first of her college career.

The Mariners scratched and clawed in the first two sets, losing by just five combined points (26-24, 25-22) before Ave Maria locked in and dominated the third set by a score of 25-14.

The Mariners hit the road again for a match against Warner University on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
