BRUNSWICK, Ga. - The College of Coastal Georgia men's basketball team returns home this weekend for their final game of the 2023-24 season as they host the Ave Maria University Gyrenes for Senior Day. 

The Mariners (9-15, 2-11 TSC) will look to send their three seniors off on the right foot as they also look to avenge a 97-84 loss to the same Ave Maria team earlier this season. 

Two of the three seniors being honored on Saturday, Nick Jiles and Layton Veon, are driving forces behind the Mariners offense as Jiles leads the team in scoring, sitting at 17.8 points per game which also ranks fifth in the conference. Veon sits not far behind, averaging 13.1 himself, which is good enough for 16th in the conference. Complimenting Jiles and Veon is Salle Wilson, who has started every game but one this season for CCGA and is also averaging 13 points per contest. As a team, the Mariners average 75 points per game and also lead the conference in free throw percentage at 74 percent. 

For the Gyrenes, (19-8, 8-5 TSC) they snapped a three game losing streak last time out, defeating Webber by a final of 84-75. Leading their high powered offense is sophomore guard Michael Klekas, who is averaging 15.7 points per game. Impressively, Ave Maria has six players averaging in double figures, including Jonathan Effertz and Jaylen White who can both shoot the long ball at alarming rates. Effertz has made at least four threes in three of his last four outings, with White not making less than two since the middle of January. As a team, the Gyrenes are averaging an eye popping 92 points per game, which easily leads the conference. 

Along with Jiles and Veon, the College of Coastal Georgia will also honor senior Aaron Daniels during pregame festivities. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
