Mariners Roll Past Abraham Baldwin 87-77

TIFTON, GA – Coastal Georgia picked up an important road victory Sunday evening, defeating Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 87-77. The Mariners improved their record with a balanced offensive attack and strong first-half execution.

Coastal Georgia came out firing in the first half, shooting an impressive 60.7% from the field and 54.5% from three-point range. The Mariners built their largest lead of 13 points at the 12:08 mark of the first half and took a commanding 51-41 advantage into the break.

Junior forward Aamir Mack paced the Mariners with 19 points on efficient 6-of-10 shooting, adding a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double performance. Mack was particularly effective in the paint and at the free-throw line, converting 7-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Derrick "Mannie" Harris provided excellent secondary scoring with 16 points, including three three-pointers, while also distributing five assists and grabbing seven rebounds. Thaddeus Burns added 15 points off 4-of-5 shooting and was a perfect 6-for-9 from the free-throw line.

The Mariners received solid production from their reserves, with Alexandre Zambonetti contributing 12 points in 26 minutes off the bench. Isaiah Edden chipped in 11 points with four assists in his 24 minutes of action, helping to facilitate the offense throughout the game.

After building a double-digit halftime lead, Coastal Georgia faced a second-half challenge as ABAC cut the deficit to just one point at 51-50 midway through the final period. However, the Mariners responded with composure, maintaining their lead through clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch.

The team connected on 23-of-32 free throws (71.9%) for the game, with Burns going 4-for-4 from the line in the final minute to help seal the victory after receiving a technical foul.

The Mariners finished the game shooting 53.8% from the field (28-52) and 42.1% from three-point range (8-19). They dominated the glass, out-rebounding ABAC 40-21, which led to 11 second-chance points and 28 points in the paint. The rebounding advantage helped Coastal Georgia control the tempo of the game throughout.

With the victory, Coastal Georgia improves to 4-6 on the season and will look to build momentum as they continue their campaign. The balanced scoring attack and rebounding dominance showcased in Tifton will be key factors as the Mariners push forward.
