Bio 

Roger Hodge enters his fifth year as head coach of the Coastal Georgia women’s basketball program.

He led the Mariners to a 21-11 record and a third-place finish in the Sun Conference in the 2018-19 season before Coastal Georgia made a run to its first-ever final in the conference tournament. 

Hodge brought 27 years of coaching experience to Coastal Georgia. He’s held coaching roles at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and scholastic levels. Entering into the 2018-19 season, Hodge has an overall head coaching record of 206-170 and a combined record of 319-212 as both a head coach and an assistant coach.

At Coastal Georgia

Hodge coached the Mariners to the Sun Conference finals in 2018-19, which was the team's first appearance in the league tournament championship game.

He guided the Mariners to a 21-11 overall record, their first 20-win season since the 2013-14 season when the team won a program-high 25 games.

Hodge coached the Mariners to their first winning season in three years. The program was in their first year of the Sun Conference and were able to reach the semifinals in the 2017-18 season.

Hodge was part of five NCAA Tournament teams, four conference championships teams, four regular-season conference championship teams, and four high school state championship programs

All-time winningest coach at Armstrong Atlantic State with 138 wins over eight seasons. 

He spent three seasons (2011-14) as head coach at Lincoln Memorial, leading the 2011-12 Rail Splitters to their first winning season since 2004-05. Lincoln Memorial’s 2013-14 team had the most conference wins in program history at the time.

He was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for NCAA Division 1’s East Carolina, helping the 2009-10 Pirates to 23 wins – the second-most victories for a single season.

Hodge was able to turn Armstrong Atlantic State into one of the Peach Belt’s top programs, guiding the Pirates to six-straight winning seasons and berths to the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Division II Tournaments.

Captured the Peach Belt regular-season and tournament championships in 2003, compiling a 27-4 record. In 2003, named Peach Belt Coach of the Year and South Atlantic Region Coach of the year, and recipient of the Naismith Award from the Atlanta Tipoff Club as the Georgia Coach of the Year.

Hodge began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at NCAA Division I Liberty University, helping the Flames to three-straight Big South Conference titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament.

When he returned to his hometown of Hinton, West Virginia, Hodge started his coaching career in 1987 as an assistant for Hinton High School.

He was part of the coaching staff, who led Hinton’s girls basketball team to three state titles.

Also had coaching stops at Mercer Christian Academy (Princeton, WV.), Summers County High School (Hinton, WV.), and Savannah Country Day School (Savannah, Ga.).

Hodge was a multi-sport standout in high school, earning all-state honorable mention honors in football and baseball, and all-conference nods for football, baseball, and basketball.

Graduated from Concord University in West Virginia with degrees in education and general studies.

Hodge has two daughters – Madison and Emmaline.
