LAKELAND, Fla. – The College of Coastal Georgia Mariners fell in their season opener to the Southeastern Fire in a rainy day matchup.

Doubles:
- At line one, Marianela Landi and Eva Rubio suffered a 0-6 loss in their first match as a pair this season.
- Daniela Alvarez Campo and Azul Malatini earned the win at line two. Their 6-3 victory marked Malatini's first win as a Mariner.
- Caitlyn Napier and Rocio Arraya fought in their doubles match but ultimately lost the third line 3-6.
Singles:
- Rubio started the 2021 season in the no. 1 singles slot. She fell 3-6, 5-7 in her first match of the season.
- Landi took her match at line two to three sets, but she ultimately fell as well. She lost in the first set 4-6, won the second 6-0, and lost 2-6 in the tie-breaking set.
- Campo fell at line three. She lost her match 1-6 in the first set and 2-6 in the second.
- Napier fell 3-6, 3-6 at line four.
- In her first singles match in the Mariner uniform, Malatini lost a hard-fought match 4-6, 5-7.
- Arraya was the Mariner to stop the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at line six. This was the first win as a Mariner.
