Mariners Fall in Last Game of SSAC/SUN Challenge

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Coastal Georgia women's basketball team (0-3(0-0)) lost to Life University (3-1) 80-56 on Saturday night in its final game of the SSAC/SUN Challenge.

Freshman Andranique Voorhies led the way with 15 points and 11 rebounds to record her first collegiate double-double. Senior Sonia Forney also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Kelsey Leedle also finished in double figures scoring as she dropped in 11 points.

Guards Gabby Litvak, Iesha Rhodin, Azaria Varnado and Samara Calso combined for the rest of the points scored by the Mariners.

For the Eagles, Tanit Calsapeu led the game with 18 points and her teammate Fapou Semebene was right behind her with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Keirra York and Maikya Simmons each finished in double figures as well. 

As a team, the Mariners again struggled from beyond the arc going 3-20. Life on the other hand was an efficient 6 of 13 from the three-point line. Coastal Georgia outrebounded the Eagles 44-37 but lost the turnover battle. The Mariners gave the ball up 25 times to the Eagles 13.

The Mariners will travel to Denmark, S.C. to take on Voorhees College on Nov. 8 at 6 pm.
