Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia women's basketball team (1-10, 0-4) fell to Florida Memorial (6-3, 4-1) by a score of 85-58 on Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners were led offensively by senior Joyce Jordan who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior, Sonia Forney also finished with double digits, scoring 12.
Wings Gabby Litvak and Kelsey Leedle both finished with nine points on three three-pointers to round out the rest of the major scorers for the Mariners.
Tiana Ayulo recorded a double-double for the Lions with 18 points and 19 rebounds. Chantel Barnett led all scorers with 22 points on an efficient 10-16 from the field. Aliyah Deen-Ahmad also finished with double-digit points, as she scored 14 and dished out a game-high six assists.
How It Happened:
1st QUARTER: The Lions jumped out to an early 13-2 lead, but the Mariners were able to answer back and cut Florida Memorial's lead to just 20-16 going into the second quarter.
2nd QUARTER: Florida Memorial was able to break open the game with a 19-3 run after the game was tied at 24-24. 16 of those points came from layups thanks to 14 turnovers by the Mariners and went into the break, up 43-29.
3rd QUARTER: The Lions kept their foot on the gas coming out of the locker room and took a 65-45 lead that they rode into the final quarter.
4th QUARTER: Florida Memorial kept pouring it on and ended up winning by a score of 85-58 to improve to 4-1 in Sun Conference play.
