Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia men's basketball team (3-14, 1-8) fell to Keiser University (13-7, 6-3) Thursday night by a score of 79-67.
Junior guard Nick Jiles recorded a season-high 27 points on an efficient 57 percent shooting despite going 0-4 from three.
Mason McMurray and Rodney Wiley Jr. gave the Mariners good production off the bench combing for 20 points. Anthony Duncan and Kenny Brown combined for 11 points on 5-7 shooting to round out the rest of the major scorers for Coastal Georgia.
Lorenzo Ferrell played menacing on-ball defense which forced several Keiser turnovers, especially late in the game. Ferrell recorded six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals but made a lot more plays that won't show up on the stat sheet. He had a part to play in at least seven Seahawks turnovers during the final 10 minutes of the game as played harder than anyone on the court until that last buzzer sounded.
For the Seahawks, Brandon Younger had a great night shooting, going 50 percent from the field including 4-6 from beyond the arc, and also hitting all six of his free throw attempts. Younger also added game-high eight rebounds. Core'Von Lott and Justin Tucker had big nights as well, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively while combing for 12 rebounds and five steals.
How It Happened:
1st Half:
-The Seahawks opened up the game on a 13-4 run as five different players got into the scoring column for them.
-The Mariners answered back with six straight points to get the game with four points with 6:11 left in the half before Brandon Younger hit a quick three on the other end.
-Both teams traded buckets, but the Mariners were not able to get it within one possession and the Seahawks went into the half up 38-31.
2nd Half:
-Keiser did not cool off and went on a 12-2 run to open up the half.
-With 8:10 remaining in the game, Shaquille Harris dunked the ball on a fast break to give the Seahawks their largest lead at 22 points.
-Lorenzo Ferrell, Nick Jiles and Rodney Wiley Jr. helped chip away at the Seahawk's lead and got it down to 10 with 2:23 but were unable to get capitalize on the momentum as Keiser took the game 79-67.
