Women's Basketball to Tip-Off Season on Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia women's basketball team will begin its season against Brewton-Parker on Saturday night at 5:30 p.m. in the Howard Coffin Gym.

2023-24 STORYLINES-
  • The Mariners return just four players from last years team and welcome in eight new faces. Among those returning are Iesha Rhodin and Andranique Voorhies who set program records for assists by a freshman and blocks by a freshman, respectively.
  • Seniors Kelsey Leedle and Victoria Hickman also return to Head Coach Denise Hannah's squad. Leedle enters this season sixth in program history for made three-pointers and has a chance to climb into the top five with a solid campaign this year. 
  • Hickman will look to play a full season after joining the team late last year. She immediately impressed everyone in the gym with her court vision, making highlight-reel passes throughout the game.
  • Junior guard Ja'Khyla Johnson was tabbed the SUN Player to Watch for Coastal Georgia after transferring in from Albany Tech where she averaged 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
HISTORY- 

The Mariners lead the series 17-8 all-time but have dropped the last four games to the Barons including both games last season.
