BRUNSWICK, Ga.- With time winding down and Sun Conference Tournament hopes still in the balance, the Coastal Georgia women's basketball team (6-18, 4-10) rose to the occasion, downing Warner (14-12, 6-8) 63-61. Sonia Forney got the ball in the post with four seconds left and made a spin move going right before laying it up with her left hand and watching it drop in as time expired.
The Mariners, who have made a habit of close of games as of late, were able to score the final five points of the game to get their fourth conference win of the season.
Coastal Georgia was led by Joyce Jordan who finished with 22 points while Forney ended with 17. Jordan had a clutch game-tying basket, recording a layup through contact and then hitting the free throw to make it a 61-61 game.
Freshman Guard Iesha Rhodin recorded six points and three assists. Rhodin now has 67 assists on the season which is now the new Coastal Georgia record for assists in a single season by a freshman.
