No. 18 Mariners Win Two Games, Advance to Championship

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The No. 18 Coastal Georgia softball team defeated Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College by a score of 8-4 in the Mariners first game of the day. Then followed that up with a 3-0 win over Indiana Tech to advance to the Championship game against top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett.

GAME 1:
The Mariners were led offensively by Bryce Peacock and Aniston Johnson who both had two hits and combined for three RBI's.

Peacock also recorded her seventh triple of the season, breaking the school record she previously set with four last season.

Kayla Rowell also recorded two RBIs on a double in the fifth inning. The fifth inning was a busy one for the Mariners bats as they recorded seven runs as Sarah Thinger, McCall Maret and Melani Jones drove in runs.

Hayley Dickerson pitched all seven innings, picking up her 23rd win of the season.

GAME 2:
Bryce Peacock followed her counterparts performance in the circle with a gem of her own, throwing a seven-inning shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out six batter.

The Mariners were up 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning before a three-hour weather delay.

Coastal Georgia, however, was not thrown off as they came back out and recorded two quick outs thanks to McCall Maret's glove at third base.

Thinger, Peacock and Maret each recorded two hits with Thinger driving in a run in the sixth inning to make it 3-0.

Kayla Rowell drove in the first run of the game on a double in the first inning and beautiful bunt by Rori Rhodes in the sixth inning drove in the other Mariners run.
