LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Coastal Georgia softball team picked up win number 30 on the season in grand fashion, taking the rubber match and the series from the Warner Royals by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Mariners (30-7, 11-4 TSC) keep their dreams of a regular season conference championship as well as a top two seed in the conference tournament alive with a massive effort in enemy territory.

It was a slow start for the Mariners offense as their first hit did not come until the third inning when they exploded for three runs and five hits in the inning. Sarah Thinger got the singles train started as the Mariners rattled off four straight hits, the latter pair from Bryce Peacock and Rylee Mills drove home runs to make the score 2-0 and force a pitching change from the Royals (17-24, 5-10 TSC). Two batters after Mills, Julianna Batts singled to the pitcher to bring home Peacock to score the third run of the inning and give the Mariners a 3-0 lead going to the bottom half of the inning.

In the bottom half the Royals did respond with a run of their own. Dominguez started the inning with a double and moved to third on a sac bunt. Three batters later, a single from Mooring scored the first run of the game for the Royals and cut the lead down to 3-1 going into the fourth.

Mackenzie Southerland singled to begin the fourth, but that was the only hit from either side in the inning as the game progressed to the fifth with the same score.

After the fourth, the game turned into a pitchers duel between Peacock and Morton, as neither pitcher allowed a hit for the remainder of the contest, with the lone base runner being Rori Rhodes who reached on an error by the third baseman. Peacock finished her third straight perfect inning in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win and the series for the Mariners, as well as their 30th win of the season.

CCGA finished with six hits coming from six different players, with Peacock, Mills, and Batts all adding one RBI apiece. Both sides left four or more runners on base in the game, with the Mariners leaving six.

Peacock threw her second complete game of the weekend, allowing just three hits and one earned run en route to her 13th win of the season.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Mariners as they host the ninth ranked team in the country in Georgia Gwinnett on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from Brunswick High School.
