COLUMBIA, KY - The College of Coastal Georgia men's basketball team put together one of its most efficient offensive outings of the season but came up just short in an 89–82 road loss to undefeated Lindsey Wilson on Sunday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.
The Mariners (1–3) played toe-to-toe with the Blue Raiders in a fast-paced contest that featured hot shooting and constant energy on both sides. Coastal Georgia shot a strong 44 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range, connecting on 13 shots from behind the arc—its best perimeter performance of the season. The team also went 17-for-18 from the free throw line, good for 94 percent, while recording 33 rebounds and seven steals.
After trading baskets early, the Mariners found their rhythm behind the play of Thaddeus Burns and Isaiah Edden, both setting the tone offensively in the first half. Edden provided an early spark with 11 points before the break, including a perfect 4-for-4 mark from the line, while Burns knocked down a pair of threes to help Coastal Georgia stay within a point at halftime, trailing 38–37.
In the second half, the Mariners' offense continued to click. Kycean Pruett came alive from beyond the arc, draining four triples in the final 20 minutes on his way to 12 points, while Khylan McKennie gave a major boost off the bench with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Mannie Harris added 12 points and a team-high four assists, and Jeremiah Camara anchored the inside with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson's balanced scoring attack proved the difference, as the Blue Raiders shot over 52 percent for the game and held off several late pushes from the Mariners. Coastal Georgia trimmed the lead to single digits in the final minutes behind key threes from Pruett and Burns, but the home team sealed the win at the free throw line.
Despite the loss, Coastal Georgia's offensive consistency and improved shooting marked a positive step forward. Ten different players found the scoring column, and the bench contributed 21 points in a strong team effort.
The Mariners will look to build on this performance as they continue their non-conference slate next week.
