BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The College of Coastal Georgia has named Katie Novak-Lenoir as the program's new head women's basketball coach, Director of Athletics Zack Rogers announced Monday, June 8. Novak-Lenoir arrives in Brunswick with more than 100 wins and 12 years of college coaching experience.
"We are thrilled to welcome Katie Novak-Lenoir to the Mariner family," said Rogers. "Her track record of developing student-athletes, earning All-Conference and All-American recognition, and competing at the highest levels of college basketball make her exactly the right leader for our program. We look forward to what she will build here at Coastal."
Novak-Lenoir comes to Coastal Georgia after serving as head coach at NCAA Division III University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), where she compiled a 46-34 record over three seasons. Her tenure included an American Southwest Conference regular season championship, an NCAA Tournament appearance, a pair of top-two finishes in ASC play, and a record-setting performance — most recently an NCAA All-Divisions record of 14 consecutive three-pointers made in a single game during the 2025-26 season. She also coached 14 All-ASC selections and three ASC superlative award winners.
Prior to UMHB, Novak-Lenoir served as head coach at NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific University and NCAA Division III Sul Ross State University, where she remains the winningest coach in program history. At SRSU, she led the Lobos to their first-ever ASC Tournament victory in 2021 and was named ASC West Division Coach of the Year. She also served as Senior Woman Administrator and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsor during her time there. At Hawaii Pacific, she doubled the team's PacWest Conference win total in a single season.
Before taking the reins as a head coach, Novak-Lenoir spent three seasons as an assistant at Our Lady of the Lake during the Saints' run as an NAIA powerhouse, contributing to three regular season championships, three Red River Athletic Conference championships, three National Tournament appearances, a Sweet Sixteen run, and a No. 1 regular season ranking.
During her coaching career Novak-Lenoir has coached four NAIA All-Americans, two Division 3 All-Americans, and one Division two time All-American.
"I would like to thank President Dr. Evans, Athletic Director Zack Rogers, and the entire search committee for their trust and confidence in me to lead the women's basketball program at the College of Coastal Georgia," said Novak-Lenoir. "From the moment I stepped on campus, I could feel the energy, pride, and commitment that make this college such a special place. The beautiful coastal setting only adds to what is already an incredible environment for students and student-athletes. My family and I are excited to join the Mariner community and get to work building on the program's success. I look forward to developing impactful young women, competing for championships, and helping elevate Coastal Georgia women's basketball to new heights."
As a player, Novak-Lenoir was a starter and two-year team captain at NCAA Division II Saint Joseph's College before transferring to the University of the Incarnate Word, where she served as team captain and played in the program's inaugural Division I season. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Saint Joseph's and a Master of Science in Sport Management from Incarnate Word. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Council of Strength and Fitness and a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Novak-Lenoir is married to William Lenoir. They have two children, Walker and Arlis Jane.
