Volleyball squad beaten at home by Webber

The College of Coastal Georgia women's volleyball team fell 3-0 Friday night to Webber International at Howard Coffin Gym. The Mariners lost by scores of 26-24, 25-14 and 25-17. The loss was the second this season for Coastal Georgia against the Lady Warriors. The Mariners also lost to Webber 3-0 last month down in Florida.

With the loss, Coastal Georgia saw its record fall to 14-15 for the season. The team will attempt to get back to the .500 mark on Saturday when it hosts Warner University for its final home game of the season. Match time is 2 p.m. at Howard Coffin. The Mariners will round out their inaugural season with road matches Monday against Brewton Parker and Tuesday against Augusta State.

On Friday against Warner, Valerie Cutrone led the Mariners with nine kills in 14 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. Al Aplington and Kelsey Behrend followed with six kills each. Kansas Robison recorded nine digs to lead the Mariners in that category.

Julianne Dougherty led Webber with 11 kills and Shauna Brown followed with 24.
