Volleyball Hosts Season Finale; Set to Honor Seniors

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (8-13, 4-9) controls its own postseason destiny with its upcoming match against No. 22 St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Coffin Gym. Along with the postseason potential, the Mariners will also be honoring seniors Elena Gkiourda, Natalia Willhelm Heguaburu, Skylar Gribben, Madison Heskett and Rebecca Brown.

The Mariners enter Saturday having won six straight sets and will look to continue that streak against the best team in the Sun Conference.

The Bobcats (22-2, 13-0) have a chance to finish the regular season undefeated in conference play. They have already locked in the number one seed in the SUN Tournament but would like to keep their record without blemish.

HISTORY-

The Mariners have lost three straight matches by a score of 3-0 to the Bobcats and are 7-12 all-time against the team from Miami. Coastal almost stole the second set the first time these teams played, but St. Thomas prevailed 28-26.

BY THE NUMBERS-

Chantiya Johnson is second in the SUN with 1.11 blocks per set as teammate Cassidy Casey has jumped into the top 10 averaging 0.68 blocks per set.
Casey also ranks fourth in the SUN for hitting percentage at .290.
Raevyn Russell continues her All-Conference campaign as she is averaging 3.09 kills and 3.51 points per set.
Six different Mariners have 90 or more digs on the season including Kira Matthias (101), Jenna Rogers (94), Rebecca Brown (109), Julia Neveu (118), Sara Hansen (138) and Skylar Gribben (139).
Freshmen Luci Marinella has gotten to showcase her talents over the last couple of games. She recorded a season-high 13 assists in the win over Florida Memorial before topping that with a new season-high 22 assists in the win against Webber.
