Mariners have smooth sailing versus Brewton-Parker

Brunswick, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's volleyball team continued its stellar play on its home court Tuesday night, clicking to a 3-0 victory over rival Brewton-Parker at Howard Coffin Gym.

The Mariners rolled over the Barons by 25-15, 25-15, 25-12 to win in the minimum three sets.

With the victory, the Mariners improved to 6-1 at Coffin for the season. Coastal Georgia improved to 9-13 overall, and 3-5 in the Southern States Athletic Conference with the win. The victory ended a four-match losing streak for the Mariners and kicked off what the team hopes will be a successful three-match home stand.

Coastal Georgia will be back at home Friday for a 6 p.m. match against Spring Hill. The Mariners will also be at home Saturday for a 2 p.m. meeting with Mobile.

On Tuesday, the Mariners overpowered the Barons (5-12, 1-8) in a match in which all available players saw time on the court. MK White and Joy Ogide, both middle blockers, led the Mariners with eight kills each. White hit .400 for the match. Ogide also blocked two Brewton Parker attacks.

Maggie Bee set up the offensive attack with 18 assists to lead the Mariners. She also recorded five aces.

Lindsay Herman added six kills and three aces for Coastal Georgia. Cassidy Kingery led the Mariner defense with 15 digs.
