Brunswick, Ga. - The College of Coastal Georgia women's volleyball team completed a perfect weekend homestand with a 3-0 victory Saturday over Belhaven at Howard Coffin Gym in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
With the victory, the Mariners (16-9 overall, 7-3 league) won their fourth straight SSAC match and also remained unbeaten at home, running their record to 9-0 at Coffin for the season.
Against the Blazers (8-16, 2-9), the Mariners won by set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-13 as they dictated the action most of the way. Coastal Georgia also won 3-0 over Loyola on Friday to kick off the weekend at home.
The Mariners posted 43 kills against just 12 errors in Saturday's victory, hitting .378 for the match as they took 82 swings over the three sets. The Mariners mounted a balanced attack with Kara Neisen leading the charge with 11 kills. Rachel Amundson followed with nine while Holly Hammer and Amanda Kline recorded eight each.
Cayley Meiners dished out 34 assists for the Mariners while Maggie Bee led the team with 13 assists. Amundson added 12 digs while Hammer had 11. Bee also had four of the five service aces by the Mariners in the victory.
Coastal Georgia got credit for five total blocks in the win as Kline assisted on four blocks and Hammer assited on three to lead the play at the net.
Belhaven finished with almost as many errors (20) as it did kills (22) and finished hitting just .026 for the day on 78 total attacks. Brittany Ammons led the Blazers with seven kills in the loss.
Belhaven had beaten Brewton-Parker 3-0 in Mount Vernon on Friday.
The Mariners will go back on the road next week, making a trip to Tennessee to play conference matches at Bethel on Friday and Martin Methodist on Saturday.
