With the win in the Southern States Athletic Conference, the No. 24-ranked Mariners (28-1 overall, 17-0 conference) moved within a victory of completing a perfect season in the conference. Saturday's game is set for 2 p.m. at Coffin Gym. Coastal Georgia seniors will be honored during a brief ceremony prior to the match.
The Tigers (17-11, 9-7) had pushed the Mariners to the limit in the previous conference matchup between the teams in Gainesville with the Mariners prevailing 3-2 in five sets. The Mariners had also already beaten Brenau 3-0 in a match played during the Mariner Invitational on Labor Day weekend.

The Tigers finished hitting only .096 for the match, ringing up 33 kills with 23 errors in 104 attacks. Sydney Koon led the team with 10 kills.
"This was a good match win," said Coastal Georgia coach Jeff Huebner. "Brenau right now is sitting at the third-place team in the conference and gave us our best match in conference the first weekend of conference play.
"The first set we started a little slow, but picked things up really well. From them on, we played with great pursuit of the volleyball and made some unbelievable plays. "
