Mariners sweep past Florida Memorial

Miami Gardens, Fla. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's volleyball team knocked off Florida Memorial here Friday, winning 3-0 over the Lions on their home floor.

The win lifted the Mariners to 6-11 for the season and 5-5 in the Sun Conference.

Florida Memorial fell to 5-12 and 2-7.

Coastal Georgia also defeated the Lions last month by a 3-0 score in a tri-match at Howard Coffin Gym that also included Johnson & Wales. The Mariners were also set to play the Wildcats a second time later on Friday.

Against FMU, the Mariners swept the match by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-15.

Coastal Georgia finished with 44 kills in 118 swings while checking the Lions to just 25 kills.

The Mariners got 12 kills in 23 attacks from Kyra White and 11 kills in 24 attempts from Alexis Downey. Addie Pedraza added nine kills in 18 attempts and hit. 500 for the match as she didn't have a hitting error.

Ashley Kot dished out 32 assists and also finished with 16 digs while playing strong defense.

Coastal Georgia finished with 66 digs as a team. Laney Green added 13 while Madie Bunge and Azure Werner added 12 each.

The Mariners also finished with seven total blocks. White and Downey both recorded two solo blocks each as part of that total.

Jessica Medina led the Lions with eight kills.
