Mariners Stumble at Southeastern

Lakeland, FL - Coastal Georgia (9-12 overall, 8-6 TSC) travelled to Southeastern University (21-7 overall, 11-4 TSC) on Wednesday night suffering a heartbreaking 2-3 defeat.  As the regular season nears the end, the Mariners wanted to see their winning streak continue.

The first two sets belonged to Coastal Georgia. Coach Leah Mihm expects her team to always start fast and grabbing a 2-0 lead was just the ticket.  Kyra White lead the way for the Mariners with eighteen kills in the first set alone.  The Mariners won the second set behind Alexis Downey's terrific serving leading to a 25-21 decision.

It was senior night for the Southeastern Fire and they upheld their name. The Fire closed the last three sets 25-22, 25-21, 15-12 ending the Mariners winning streak at 4.  Senior Kaity Reed finished the night with eighteen kills and served up two aces.

Coastal Georgia's Addie Pedraza had an inspiring night for the Mariners recording fourteen kills and seventeen digs.  Laney Green led the way with twenty-three digs.

The Mariners are back in action this Friday, November 3, 2017 in Coffin Gym facing Ave Maria University at 2:00 p.m. ET and play again at home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday against league-leading Saint Thomas University in the last regular season match for 2018.
