Mariners Fall to Gyrenes

AVE MARIA, Fla. - The Coastal Georgia Mariners (16-7, 9-3) fell to the Ave Maria Gyrenes (10-11, 5-7). The Mariners lost in three sets 25-20, 25-22, 25-18.

As a team, the Mariners collected 34 kills, but an uncharacteristic number of errors was what proved fatal. The Mariners hit .205 as a team in the first set but fell steadily through the second and third.

Addie Pedraza led the Mariners with 14 kills. Pedraza only let up six errors in her 40 attempts, which is the most she has taken in three sets this season. She finished the game with a .200 kill percentage.  

Alison Muldrow had the next highest amount of kills, her eight kills on 14 attempts gave her a .429 kill percentage. This is Muldrow's eighth game this season hitting over .300 and third in a row.

Junior setter Ashley Kot contributed 14 assists and her counterpart Gardieliz Laureano-Andujar added 13.

Libero Yorelis Rios Gonzalez carried the defensive load for the Mariners, totaling 23 digs. She also added two aces and six assists. Kot also contributed nine digs and Sam Kepler added eight.  

After the loss, the Mariners fall to third in the Sun Conference behind Keiser and Southeastern. All teams are tied with a 9-3 conference record. The Mariners are back at home this Wednesday, October 30 against No. 2 Southeastern. The first serve is slated for 7:00p.m. in Coffin Gym.
