Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla.- Coastal Georgia's volleyball team (8-10(0-4)) split its tri-match on Tuesday in Kissimmee, Fla. losing to Florida College (16-8) 3-0 before beating host team Johnson University Florida (4-9) 3-0 to round out non-conference play.
The Mariners fell in straight sets to Florida College by scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-20.
Paula Perez Rosales led the team with eight kills and 11 digs in the first match. Natalia Willhelm Heguaburu and Chantiya Johnson each added six kills of their own.
Breanna Tanton and Rebecca Brown combined for 23 assists and 17 digs.
Falcons hitters Krista Trimble and Adriana Bravo combined for 25 kills and both recorded a hitting percentage above .320 to lead Florida College's attack.
The second game was much different for the Mariners as they swept the Suns by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-14.
Tanton set a new career-high in assists with 23 and also added 11 digs to record her first double-double.
Perez Rosales and Willhelm Heguaburu each recorded five kills while also combing for 24 digs.
Chantiya Johnson led the Mariners offensively with eight kills and added another 3.5 blocks to her stat line.
Freshman Andi Thompson got some run-in at the libero position in the second game, making her the sixth Mariner to play libero at least once this year.
MARINERS QUICK HITS:
- Thamely Santos recorded four kills in each game but added 3.5 blocks in the Mariner's win over the Suns
- Freshman Celina Keener saw the floor more on Tuesday, recording five kills and three blocks through the two matches.
- Chantiya Johnson is ranked seventh in the Sun Conference for hitting percentage.
- Elena Gkiourda is second in the Sun Conference in aces per set.
