Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (9-13(1-7)) fell to St. Thomas (14-4(9-1)) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats continued their winning streak after defeating the Mariners in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-15.
Paula Perez Rosales led the Coastal Georgia offensive attack with 10 kills while Rebecca Brown facilitated with 23 assists.
Natalia Willhelm Heguaburu held down the backline with 11 digs while Elena Gkiourda also contributed on the offensive side with five kills.
Alexandra MacAskill and Amanda Allende both recorded nine kills and have hitting percentages over .200 to lead the Bobcat's attack.
As a team, the Bobcats hit .319 percent while holding the Mariners under .100 percent.
How It Happened:
SET 1: The Bobcats jumped out to an early 13-6 lead leading to a Coastal Georgia timeout. The timeout turned things around as the Mariners came out of the timeout on a 7-2 run and came within two points of the lead before St. Thomas went on a 6-2 run to close out the set.
SET 2: The Mariners kept it close at the beginning, tying the game at 6-6. The Bobcats went on a quick 4-0 run that prompted a Mariner's timeout but this time St. Thomas was prepared. The Bobcats went on a 15-5 run to close out the set and put Coastal Georgia behind the eight-ball.
SET 3: Coastal Georgia got off to a good start, leading 5-4 early in the match, however, St. Thomas pinned back its ears and got to work going on a 10-4 run causing coach Val Every to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, it was still all Bobcats as they ended the game on an 11-6 run to improve its winning streak to 10.
