Mariners on Best Start In School History

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (9-0) are on their best start in program history after sweeping the Brewton Parker Barons (3-5) 4-1 and 11-0.

The previous best start in the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners Softball history was seven games, which the 2022 Mariners tied after their last double-header. In 2019, the Mariners won their first seven games against CIU, Trinity Baptist, Pikeville, and Montreat. Now the Mariners are nine wins deep in their season.

In addition to setting a team record, Hayley Dickerson set a record of her own. Previously, the record for most strikeouts in an individual game had been nine. Four Mariners (including Paige Alt twice) had previously held this record: Dawn Stewart, Olivia Husted, Paige Alt, and Haley Dickerson. Now Dickerson stands alone by herself with this accolade, beating the record by three strikeouts.
