Volleyball to Play Last Non-Conference Match of the Season

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (4-7, 1-3) will play its last non-conference match of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 27 when they host LaGrange at 7 p.m. in the Coffin Gym.

The Mariners are coming off a 1-1 week where they notched their first Sun Conference win of the season against Warner University on Wednesday before falling to Keiser over the weekend.

The Panthers (2-6, 1-2) played in three matches last week and went 1-2 with their last match being a 3-2 win over Wesleyan College on Saturday.

HISTORY-

The Mariners and Panthers played each other for the first time ever last season, a match the Mariners took 3-0 in LaGrange.

BY THE NUMBERS-
  • Elena Gkiourda and Chantiya Johnson are coming off career games. Gkiourda recorded 11.0 points, tying a career-high while Johnson tied career-highs in both kills (9) and blocks (7).
  • Johnson also moved up to third in the Sun Conference for blocks per set (.94).
  • Skylar Gribben also made history, recording a career-high four assists off the heels of tying a career-high in digs (21) against Warner.
  • The Mariners have been one of the best teams at the net all season in the SUN. They average 1.93 blocks per set and have 77 total blocks on the year.
