BRUNSWICK, Ga. - After nine days off, the College of Coastal Georgia softball team will return to action as they host the Brewton Parker Barons for a Thursday double header beginning at 2 p.m.
Â
The Mariners (11-3) come in winners of four straight and looked impressive on their home field against Columbia, shutting out the Koalas in both games while allowing just six hits all day.Â
Â
Freshman
Rylee Mills has been the star of the show so far for the Mariners, starting all 14 games so far and posting an impressive .476 batting average, leading the team and ranking third in the conference. Mills also leads the team in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI's, slugging percentage, and on base percentage. Right behind her is All-American
Bryce Peacock. The senior is showing why she is one of the best players in the country, hitting .436 through 13 games, while also leading the team in innings pitched at 39.1. Mills also brings it in the circle, starting three games in six appearances and posting an ERA of 2.17 through 29.0 innings.
Elizabeth McGovern has also seen time in the circle, pitching just under 20 innings while allowing just five earned runs. As a team, CCGA ranks third in the conference in batting average at .336, also ranking third in slugging percentage and stolen bases.Â

The Barons (8-4, 2-2 SSAC) come into the Thursday DH following a DH split with fellow SSAC member Point. Abbey Flowers is the driving force of the Barons offense, currently hitting .500 through 12 games played. The junior from Hortense has had at least one hit in every game but one this season, and has had 8 multi-hit games. She comes in riding a seven game hitting streak, and has hit three home runs in that stretch of games. Complimenting Flowers is senior Alex Bradshaw, who is hitting .325 herself and has had five multi-hit games as well. Bradshaw is coming into the contest after a 2-8 showing against Point, and is looking to turn things around against a strong CCGA pitching staff. The Barons have a two headed monster in the circle, consisting of Natalie O'Neal and Kira Altman. The duo have both started six games, and both bring in an ERA under two, with O'Neal at 1.02 and Altman sitting at 1.64. Both are neck and neck in innings pitched and have combined to strike out 34 batters. Opponents are combining to hit just .232 off the pair, with O'Neal holding hitters under a .200 average. As a team, the Barons are hitting .277 as a team with an OBP of .319. They also bring in a team ERA of 1.45.Â
