Women's Golf Finishes Fourth in Home Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - It was a fourth place finish for the College of Coastal Georgia women's golf team after a second round 320 at the Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

After a solid round one, the weather conditions did not hold up for round two, with cold temperatures and gusting winds affecting the scores for every team.

Madelyn Taylor finished right outside the top 10 for the Mariners in 11th place after a second round 75. Laura Kate Kessler, who finished round two 10 over, finished in 15th place with Claire Wickes right behind in 18th spot after an 11 over performance. Morgan Herring had the second lowest score of the day for the Mariners at eight over but finished in 27th place, and Carlin Paulk rounded out the scoring with an 11 over, 83 as well to finish in 31st place. Individually, Elise Forberg shot a 79 in her final round, finishing in 27th place.

Keiser finished first as a team shooting 13 over par, shooting 16 strokes better than second place SCAD-Atlanta. SCAD-Savannah, CCGA, and Southeastern rounded out the top five.

The Mariners return to the course in two weeks when they travel to the Low Tide Intercollegiate, hosted by Limestone University, in Gaffney, S.C. on February 24-25.
