The Mariners (5-1) are coming off another busy weekend as they spent two days in Columbia, S.C. where they went 4-0 in the Cola Classic Round Robin, defeating Columbia College, Spartanburg Methodist, Brewton-Parker, and Columbia International.
Now two time Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week and one time Sun Conference Player of the Week, Rylee Mills had a stellar week last week, going 11-14 from the plate with six extra base hits, seven RBI's, and three runs scored, leading the Mariners offense. Rily Andrews also had an impressive weekend, getting at least one hit in every game going 6-13 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI's. Joining the party, Rylie Smith hit two home runs in game one of the weekend against Columbia College, becoming just the eighth player in school history to accomplish that feat.
In the circle, Mills continues to impress as expected, but McKenzie Collins and Emilia Clemons have both been exceptional options to pitch game two of both days for head coach Mike Minick. Collins now has eight innings under her belt and is posting a 1.75 ERA after firing seven innings of one earned run ball last weekend. For Clemons, she has a slightly higher ERA at 2.21, but has 12.2 innings of work on the season, giving up four runs and seven walks compared to 10 strikeouts, which leads the team.
