BRUNSWICK, Ga. - After an opening weekend split with ABAC, the College of Coastal Georgia softball team is off on the road once again in week 2, this time travelling to compete in the Cola Classic Round Robin, hosted by Columbia College and Columbia International in Columbia, S.C. on Friday and Saturday.
WEEKEND PREVIEW

CCGA vs Spartanburg Methodist - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 8 (DAY TWO AT COLUMBIA INT'L)
CCGA vs Brewton-Parker - 10:00 a.m.
CCGA vs Columbia International - 3:00 p.m.
The Mariners (1-1) travelled up to Tifton last weekend for a double header with the Fillies which saw CCGA take game one by a final of 4-1 before dropping the nightcap by a final of 4-3. Needing production from younger players, the Mariners got more than they could have asked for from their freshman, as in both games, a newbie led the team in hits. McKenzie Collins was the star in game one going 2-4 from the dish, driving in a pair of runs with a double to right center while Brooke Perdue went 2-3 in game two of the DH scoring a pair of runs in the process.
Per usual, Rylee Mills performed strong in the circle in her sophomore debut, pitching a complete game allowing just six hits and one run, leading to her being named the Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week for week one.
A tall task is in order once again this week as head coach Mike Minick has scheduled four games in two days, requiring more people to step up and help the Mariners get off to another hot start in another season.
