Softball Hosts Fillies for Tuesday Non-Conference DH

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - After securing another Sun Conference series win on the road, the College of Coastal Georgia softball team returns home this week, first dipping out of conference play to host the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies for a double header on Tuesday.

SERIES PREVIEW
Tuesday, April 8 - DH beginning at 2:00 p.m.

KEY STORYLINES
SMITH'S BIG WEEKEND
Freshman Rylie Smith had one of the best weekends of the season by any Mariner this past weekend, going 3-9 with a double, two home runs, seven RBI's, and two runs scored. Smith had a two home run, six RBI performance in game two against FMU, tying a school record for RBI's in a game.

CAREER HR #1 FOR CAROLINO
Another freshman had another big weekend as Kaitlyn Carolino delivered her first home run of the season with her leadoff home run to start game three of the series with FMU. Carolino also went 5-11 on the series with four runs scored, a double and an RBI.

MILLS 0.00 ERA WEEKEND
After struggling some over the season, Rylee Mills had a great weekend in the circle, pitching 10 innings of no run ball, allowing just five hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Mills also picked up the win in game one of the series.

NON-CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
The Mariners have played excellent in non-conference games this season, posting a 17-4 record outside of the Sun Conference. CCGA has not lost a non-conference game since February 27 when they dropped game two of the Space Coast Games to Grand View in Viera Beach, Fla.

OPPONENT PREVIEW: ABAC
Since splitting their season opening double header with the Mariners, the Fillies (9-19, 6-12 SSAC) have struggled some over their first season as an NAIA school. Most recently, the Fillies split a conference double header with Faulkner on April 5. Alli Eidson and Ava Roland lead the Fillies offense with a .314 batting average on the season, with Eidson holding a slight advantage with an OPS of .859. Edison also leads the team with 27 hits, six doubles, two triples, and 16 RBI's. Tess Rollins has been the anchor in the circle for the Fillies, posting an ERA of 2.65 over 79.1 innings of work. Against Faulkner, Rollins pitched a complete seven innings allowing four hits, one run, no walks and one strikeout.
