BRUNSWICK, Ga. - College of Coastal Georgia President Dr. Johnny L. Evans Jr. has been appointed to The Sun Conference Executive Committee, effective July 1, 2025, as selected by the league's Council of Presidents.

 "We're excited to welcome Dr. Evans to our The Sun Conference COP Executive Committee," Sun Conference Commissioner Dustin Wilke shared. "His strong leadership and expertise will be critical in serving our continued ambitions to remain on the cutting edge of an ever-changing collegiate athletics landscape. We also extend our gratitude to President Armstrong for his dedicated service as our Chair over the past two years, to Dr. Vonk as he assumes the role of COP Chair, and to Dr. Ingle for his continued service."

 Dr. Evans joins the executive leadership group representing Coastal Georgia in conference-wide governance and strategic planning. He began his presidency earlier this year, as announced by the college on January 14, 2025, after previously serving as the institution's Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Sun Conference Council of Presidents includes institutional leaders from all 10 full-member institutions and provides executive-level direction in the areas of governance, policy-making, and strategic oversight. The Council plays a critical role in guiding the conference's commitment to academic and athletic excellence across the NAIA
