The Coastal Georgia Mariners couldn't overcome a strong second-half surge by Keiser, falling 97-70 on Wednesday evening in West Palm Beach, Florida, despite staying competitive through much of the first half.
The Mariners held their own early, even leading by as many as six points in the first half before taking a slim 39-45 deficit into the break. James was particularly devastating in the second half, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the field while adding four assists and six rebounds. Nadir Myers added 16 points and six assists, while Braylen Meredith contributed 12 points off the bench. The Seahawks' balanced attack and relentless pressure on both ends proved too much for the Mariners to overcome.
The Seahawks dominated in the paint, outscoring the Mariners 60-28 in that area while also holding a significant rebounding advantage at 43-28. Keiser's ability to control the glass led to 12 second-chance points compared to just seven for Coastal Georgia. The Seahawks also capitalized on the Mariners' 12 turnovers, converting them into 19 points while committing only eight turnovers themselves.
Keiser's 57.4 percent shooting from the field for the game, including their blistering second-half performance, showcased their offensive efficiency and ability to attack the basket consistently. The Seahawks' 74.2 percent free-throw shooting also kept the Mariners from mounting any serious comeback attempts.
The loss drops Coastal Georgia's record to 8-10 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
